Paula White once said “You cannot conquer what you will not confront.” We constantly find ourselves in struggles and championing different causes. Currently the most debatable struggle in South Africa is the need to treat each other with respect regardless of race. We constantly find ourselves being part of the struggle to reclaim fair and equal distribution of employment opportunities, business support and national resources. We find ourselves marching for save the Rhino, participating in Cancer Awareness initiatives or supporting the cause for equality for woman. We find ourselves developing innovative ideas to save the environment or to place our products better in the market. All the above are worthy causes that require us to take action be part of the change. So why is that you are not fighting for oneself. The struggle for the right for self-determination.
Milton Kamwendo once said, “An unprocessed experience is a wasted experience.” Sometimes we forget that the most important thing is our soul. Whatever we go through shall come to pass. How we react to tomorrow is dependent on how we have positioned ourselves today. Life is a series of experiences that are supposed to mold and shape us to do better tomorrow. Success is not succeeding in life; success is finding the strength to keep on going when you have nothing; when the people you love hurt you, and you still love; when everything seems to be going wrong, and yet you keep on going. Success is having the fortitude to keep on going despite the circumstances which might be good or bad. Success is having the character to want to do better and transform no matter what.
Many times we are our worst enemy, we stop ourselves by our self-talk. I once allowed the simple statement “you are not doing enough” strip away the good memories. I let the opinions of others change my mood. How many times do we stop dreaming, do we stop believing in ourselves because we have let the opinions of others or the circumstances of the day take control and precedence in our lives over our desires and what we feel and know to be true about ourselves?
In trying to answer the question am I doing right by me, I found myself pondering on why do I let anger destroy a relationship, why do I let self-doubt reside in my soul and impede my growth. Ayn Rand once said, “The question isn’t who is going to let me, the question is who is going to stop me.” A painless transition is a myth. It is when the present situation in our lives hurts us, rattles us to the core that we are inspired to take drastic and strong-minded steps to personal change.
You have only today, always give yourself the best opportunity every day. How you respond to the things that happen in your life will determine your progress.
Life goes through phases and cycles of revolution. My new year’s resolution for the year is to constantly fight the struggle for Self-Determination. To not let emotions cloud my vision. Do not let anger and emotions take control of your life such that they stop you from pursuing the things that you love.
The best way to change our lives is to yield to the pressure of personal goals through self-determination. We must never surrender our change process to other people. Be in control of your life. Let go of the things that burn your soul. Leave the heart attack of yesterday in the past. Stop holding on to the things that do not give life, stop replaying the negative events. Stop finding excuses make a change. Love you enough to let go and be happy. Love you enough to fight for yourself and give yourself an opportunity to be the best you can be.
Have a successful 2017 – fight the struggle for Self-determination
When fear starts slowly creeping in or when you start doubting yourself and putting other struggles first before you. Or even when you find yourself buckling to the pressures of wanting to hold on to your old ways. When it feels as though giving up or accepting the current status qou is the the only way out……Remember the words of Isiah 41:15 “Behold, I have made YOU a new sharp threshing sledge with double edges; YOU will thresh the mountains and pulverise them, and will make the hills like chaff.” 2016 is your year to step up, change and triumph. Nothing ever changes without some form of pressure, you are great, you are amazing and you are capable of anything. Love YOU first and the rest will fall into place #dobetter #betransformed #lovelife #self-determination
